Blast from the past:
Prelude: A bloody shame-
Preface: This story takes place roughly one month after Cyberwulfe's wonderful 3 part series, 1. Tricksy's new life, 2. Tricksy's lessons, and 3. Families. I HIGHLY recommend that you read these 3 stories before this one, otherwise you'll get really confused. Also, ALL of the characters (Kayla, Slash, Rip, Stone, & Jasper) are copyrighted to me, Hybridwulf. So don't make me sick my “evil, fork-tongued” lawyer(s) on you and ASK ME first before you write about or draw my characters, please. J Enough technical stuff, on with the show!
It was a terrifying and bloody spring night in the woods outside of Nome. A lone figure, crying, ran through the trees at a chaotic pace closely followed by three vicious looking wolves. It was clear that they were intent on hunting down and killing their prey, an elegant 2 ½ year old female timber wolf. Slash, the alpha of the three, kept cursing to himself. “Dammit this bitch is fast. I could have sworn she was killed during that ambush on her pack. Heh, at least the rest of her family is dead, of that I'm positive. Slash laughed to himself as he remembered the attack that took place earlier that day. The bloodshed, the suffering, the sheer joy that he took in looking into the eyes of his victims as he slowly stole the life out of them. He LOVED it! Yet he did not like the fact that this young female had gotten away. Rip, one of his “lieutenants”, was supposed to have killed her, but apparently he did a sloppy job of it and she survived. Not all was lost though, she was badly wounded by him and is now losing ground to them because of it. A mere pup could follow her trail of blood, and Slash couldn't wait to sink his teeth into her juicy, tender hide. Slash licked his chomps at the thought of eating her. “Hell,” he thought to himself, “maybe I'll even have some 'fun' with her first, heh, heh.”
Kayla ran as fast as she possible could. She was weaving and dodging through the trees, but apparently that wasn't good enough, for Slash and his closets “lieutenants” were still hot on her tail and gaining ground on her rapidly. She was breathing heavier now, and she was physically and mentally exhausted. Not only from her wounds and running, but also from what she had experienced earlier today. What she went through would forever haunt her. *Flashback* Slash's horde had attacked at dawn while most of her pack was still asleep. The sentries that where on watch were so surprised, and quickly killed, that they could not warn the rest of the pack. A few males and females were awakened by the noise and were able to challenge the invaders, but they too fell under the superior numbers of Slash's horde. Kayla herself woke up to see Slash brutally kill her mother, but before she could react, Rip pounced on her. He clamped down on the nap of her neck and shooked her like a rag doll before tossing her onto a pile of jagged rocks, cutting her up badly. As Rip came towards her to finish her off her brother, Jasper, had leapt upon him, tearing into him with a fury she had never seen in him before. As they fought, she had slowly limped away in a vain attempt to get away and warn the neighboring packs of this genocidal act of hatred. After a few hours of limping she was able to find an old abandoned fox den where she was able to cry herself to sleep, for some much-needed rest. That rest was short lived however, because about an hour or two later she was awakened by this sudden sense of impending dread. The same sense of dread that she had felt the night before the attack, but had brushed aside thinking it meant nothing. While suppressing the urge to breakdown into a guilt-laden crying fit, she had gotten up and, discovering that her foot was good enough to run on, ran in the direction she felt was “safe”.
Looking back on it now as she was running from Slash, she didn't know why she had thought this way was safe. She just remembered that she was heading straight for a human town. “Great”, she thought to herself, “as if I didn't have enough problems”. She forgot the exact name of the town. “What was it, Dome? No, that's not it. Rome? Yeah that sounds about right, Rome, Alaska.” She was so engrossed in trying to remember the town's name that she almost didn't see the deep chasm that she was heading towards. She immediately “slammed on her brakes” and, because of the wet grass, slowly came to a stop about one paw away from the edge of the cliff. Looking down, she figured it was at least a 50-foot drop to the fast moving river below. As she slowly inched herself away from the edge of the cliff she heard a snicker from behind her. She quickly spun around with a growl to face her opponets. For the first time she was able to get a good look at her would-be killers as they slowly left the woods and entered the small clearing she was in. Rip appeared to be in the worst shape out of the three. His normally all-brown coat was covered in blood, mostly his, and several nasty cuts. Kayla snickered as she noticed her brother's handy work on him. “All right Jasper, nice work bro.” she said to herself. Stone, Slash's right paw man (uh, wolf), was in better shape than Rip. His stone-gray fur had blood on it too, but most of it appeared to be someone else's. “That blood is from one of my family members” she thought angrily to herself. When Kayla looked upon Slash however, a chill ran down her spine that had nothing to do with the nippy weather. Slash was nearly twice her size, and his black fur was totally soaked in blood. Because he never washed off any blood that got on his fur, the blood had soaked into and stained his coat. This not only made him smell bad; it also gave him a sickly arura that struck fear into anyone who laid eyes on him. Yet it was Slash's coal-black eyes that disturbed her the most. They seemed to reflect back the tortured, evil soul within him. All of this, plus the crimson red full moon, made this clearing look like a scene from a hellish nightmare that only the devil himself could come up with.
Slash entered the clearing in high spirits. The ambush had gone splendidly, his territory had just tripled in size, and now he was not only about to have “his way” with her (one way or another), but he also planned to feast upon her tender flesh and bathe in her blood afterwards. Yet when Slash gazed upon her, his jaw dropped. She was gorgeous. Her silky coat was white with orange highlights and her eyes where a beautiful deep blue. The fact that she was cut up, dirty, and bloody only made her more attractive in Slash's opinion. “She's mine. I've got to have her for my own; She would look really good at my side as my mate, heh.” Slash cleared his throat and spoke to her. “Well, well, what have we here? It appears as if you're trapped with no where to run or hide. I'll admit it, you sure gave us a nice tour of our 'newly acquired' property, but now you've hit a dead end”.
Kayla just stared at him, growling, with a building anger in her eyes that made Slash even more attracted to her. Slash continued. “However, I'll spare your life if you simply submit to my rule and become my mate”. This statement surprised Rip and Stone. They had thought he had too much hate in his black heart for a mate. This statement surprised Kayla too, but instead of getting angrier she burst into laughter. She nearly collapsed to the ground because of it. This caught Slash off guard. No one had ever laughed at him before, they were too afraid to. After a minute of her laughing, Slash was starting to lose his temper. “You find something funny?!?” He yelled. Kayla stopped laughing and replied with a snarl. “Yeah bastard, you”. Rip and Stone gasped, they knew her fate was sealed now. Kayla continued. “First you kill my family, then you hunt me down to kill me, and now you have the gall to appoint me as your mate!?! You've destroyed everything I ever loved and cared about. What the Hell makes you think I'd even want to look at a sadistic scumbag like you”?!? Slash couldn't believe his ears. Here he was offering her a chance to live, and more importantly to be with him, and she dared to throw it in his face!?! The anger that was building inside of Slash was almost overwhelming. He had never felt this out of control before. Slash screamed at the top of his lungs. “You dare turn me down?!? Nobody says no to me, you hear me!?! NOBODY”!!! Rip and Stone were bug-eyed. They knew that when Slash blew up he'd kill everyone around him. They ran full-throttle back into the woods, leaving Kayla and Slash alone.
Kayla was freaking out. Slash was trembling with rage; his eyes were bloodshot and filled with more hatred than she thought existed. Kayla knew she couldn't take him on, and she didn't fancy the idea of him raping her and then eating her. She stole a quick glance at the raging river below her. “Well, I guess I've got a better chance down there than up here.” Kayla looked at Slash as he started to approach her and made up her mind. “Hey Slash, I'll see you in Hell”. With that said, Kayla took a deep breath and, summoning up all of her courage, ran and plunged head long into the icy cold river below.
Is that the end for Kayla? Could she have possibly survived? Is Slash now a threat to Nome and our beloved heroes there? Find out in the next chapter of my “Blast from the Past” saga!
